There are many who have been disappointed in scientific medical care. Human practitioners of scientific medicine are imperfect. Sometimes, even the best application of scientific medicine can lead to failure.

Many who are turned off of scientific medicine want to turn toward something, so they often turn to an authority, a trusted person, for guidance.

A person might say, “Guru Swami says that a certain fruit juice is the best treatment for lung cancer and I don’t need proof. I just need to know that Guru Swami recommends it.”

If a person has turned away from proof, away from science, and toward a trusted authority, then that person may be beyond help.

If you are one of these people, then I ask you, how do you trust science in so many areas but stop believing in it when it comes to medicine?

You take commercial airline flights. You take elevators. You drive cars. You obviously trust the science behind those technologies. How is it that science suddenly becomes unbelievable when you are making life or death decisions regarding your own health?
